KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Two BC hunters who had an encounter with a grizzly bear last September that could have been deadly in the Besa River area north of Fort St. John got to meet face to face with some of the rescuers who saved their lives.According to CFJC News, Robbie Austin and Chris Eyre were hunting in the region, and Eyre had just got a sheep. On the way back, the two startled a mother grizzly with her cubs.Thankfully, the two men were prepared with a two-way transponder, and could communicate their whereabouts with search and rescue crews.- Advertisement -Both men still sport the scars from the attack that occurred. Eyre told CFJC News he thought he wouldn’t make it out of the attack.“It was terrifying, I really thought my days were over on the Earth,” he said. “Seeing her above me, and her power.”Austin said the attack let him with a hook-shaped scar on his neck from the bear’s tooth, where it hit his carotid artery.
