Metro services disrupted after technical snag
Kolkata: Kolkata Metro Railway services were disrupted on Thursday after a Dum Dum-bound A/C train experienced technical snag minutes after leaving Kavi Subhash Metro station.The incident took place after 9 am and normal services resumed after 10-15 minutes. According to sources, after the AC rake left Kavi Subhash station, power tripped thrice. Passengers were evacuated and another train was brought to the station. According to the passengers, Metro train services were disrupted at least for an hour. The number of services between Dum Dum and Noapara has been increased to 107 services from 104. According to a press release, Kolkata Metro Railway has increased its earning from ticket selling. The passenger count has increased during the first four months of this financial year (2019-20) in comparison to the same period of 2018-19. During this period, from April 1, 2019 to July 31, 2019, the Metro Railway carried 698.49 lakh passengers in comparison to 690.60 lakh passengers carried in the same period of the previous financial year (2018-19), registering an increase of 7.89 lakh commuters. In June, General Manager (GM) of Metro Railway P C Sharma stated that the Metro authorities have successfully increased the revenue not only by ticket selling but from all angles. He handed over awards to selected Metro Railway staff members who had rendered their meritorious services in different spheres during 2018-19. This apart, Esplanade has been declared as the ‘Best Kept Station’ of the year.
